"Forgotten soup burns on the bottom"

A wise person once said: "Forgotten soup burns on the bottom"

As the story goes,

There was once a girl who was greatly dreading finishing her spanish homework.

One day, her workload of assignments was abnormally large.

Unsure of how to tackle the job

The girl decided to look through recipe books instead.

She found a delicious recipe for

"Broccoli Cheese Soup"

"Hey!" she said to herself "This soup would make a delicious dinner."

Dinner was important.

Alas, Spanish would have to wait.

The girl began to prepare the soup.

The first step was to make basic white sauce.

While the sauce thickened

the girl slowly washed and chopped the broccoli

staring into space

pondering spanish verb forms.

Suddenly

she was aware of a rapid boiling sound.

The WHITESAUCE!!

The girl hurried to stir the soup.

Sadly, the sauce had burned on the bottom

creating brown goop in the soup.

The girl gazed sadly into the pot of soup

and attempted to remove some of the goop with a strainer.

"Forgotten soup burns on the bottom" she muttered to herself.

Let this be a lesson to all who read this blog, that one should always be completely focused on what he cooks.

Also: procrastination is generally regretted.

"Candlelight"

Yes, I'm back to the whole post videos and dont write much type of blogging.
Don't worry people: I will do a real post soon!
Just don't have time right now.

So this post is-- you guessed it! -- another song :)

It's the Jewish version of "Dynamite"!!
And (I believe) it's acapella.
Yep. The video is a little crazy lol but the song is fun.

{Please excuse the weird highlighting below.. my blog is having issues.}

I’ll tell a tale
Of Maccabees in Israel
When the Greeks tried to assail
But it was all to no avail
The war went on and on and on
Until the mighty Greeks were gone
I flip my latkes in the air sometimes sayin ayy ohh spin the dreidel
Just wanna celebrate for all eight nights singin ayy oh, light the candles
We say al hanissim
Oh yea for all eight nights
Then we play dreidel
By the candlelight
And I told you once
Now I told you twice
Bout the miracle
Of the candlelight
They took the field
The rivals thought “are they for real?"
Those maccabees they’d never yield
They charged ahead with sword and shield
The war went on and on and on
Until the mighty Greeks were gone
I flip my latkes in the air sometimes sayin ayy ohh spin the dreidel
Just wanna celebrate for all eight nights singin ayy oh, light the candles
We say maoz tzur
Oh yea for all eight nights
Then we play dreidel
By the candlelight
And I told you once
Now I told you twice
Bout the miracle
Of the candlelight
And the great menorah
For eight days it kept on burning
What a celebration
A great return to Torah learning
Cuz I can feel it
And Ay-ay-ay
Nes gadol, nes gadol
Nes gadol hayah sham
I flip my latkes in the air sometimes sayin ayy ohh spin the dreidel
Just wanna celebrate for all eight nights singin ayy oh, light the candles
We say al hanissim
Oh yea for all eight nights
Then we play dreidel
By the candlelight
And I told you once
Now I told you twice
Bout the miracle
Of the candlelight

Egmont

I recently heard this song for the first time. I love it so much! I can listen to it several times in a row without getting tired of it.

"Egmont Overture"

It was first written by Beethoven in the year 1809, 2 years after he wrote his famous "Fifth Symphony".

It's moving and dramatic.

According to wikipedia: "The subject of the music and dramatic narrative is the life and heroism of a 16th-century Flemish nobleman, the Count of Egmont... In the music for Egmont, Beethoven expressed his own political concerns through the exaltation of the heroic sacrifice of a man condemned to death for having taken a valiant stand against oppression."

Egmont Overture is a beautiful composition.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Why I love FALL!

Greetings loyal followers!

I have been lazy lately. I stopped blogging.

Not that I ever really blogged.. I did "mini-blogging"

Posting songs and pictures and stuff.

But, I have decided it's time for a real blog post!! Hooray!

Today's post is about fall- I love autumn!

I love the warm days for taking walks and having picnics.
I love the cool nights perfect for eating hot soup and wearing hoodies and slippers.
I love the vibrant colors on the trees as the leaves change color and fall.
I love the fuzzy orange and brown caterpillars that you find among the leaves in the woods.
I love the autum crops: pumpkins, squash, apples and teaberries!
I love the special days in fall: Thanksgiving and my birthday! :)

Whats not to love???

Well a few things.
First of all: allergies. My allergies always act up when the seasons change.
Secondly: school. Fall means the beginning of the school year.  And all that homework...
But thats ok, because I do like school for the most part.. I love doing coops and taking classes.

So what are some highlights this fall so far?

Well, one thing I've really enjoyed is watching the critters.

At dusk, the deer come out to graze.  This year, I've seen more deer than I can count. Does, fawns, and some big buck too!  It's always fun to see them.  Unless we're driving, of course..

Another thing that I love love LOVE is watching the Bald Eagles!  Last night, two eagles flew right past the porch.  They're humongous, majestic birds. To see them so close almost seemed unreal.

Now here's something that not everyone will agree with me on.. Snakes are so neato! I've seen a number of them so far. They come out on warm fall days to sun themselves, so I like to look for them when I take walks. Don't worry, I didn't pick them up. ;)

Still haven't seen any live bears.  I did find the remains of a bear when I was hiking with my dad though. The skull and claws were there and everything! Heehee.. I won't gross you out with any more details.

Other highlights:

Helping my uncle print shirts in his screen printing shop! Acutally, I did more talking than helping (what did you expect?!?!?) but he showed me how everything works.  It was really awesome.

Making cotton candy!! I was the bag holder, which means I stuff the cotton candy in the bag. There may have been more going into my mouth than into the bag, but hey, I had to make sure it was safe for the others to eat, right??

Eating ice cream. Lots of it. Teaberry ice cream!!! With apple crisp! Ugh I'm getting hungry now...

Photoshoots with my sister! She's amazing. I'm a pain (especially during photoshoots), and she puts up with me.  I love her to pieces!!!! We've been taking lots of pictures, and been sharing lots of laughs. Love you Em! <3

Hanging out at Gram's place. She's the best :)

Playing presidents with my sister! It's really hard to win, cuz you both know which cards the other person has x)

Well I think that's enough to qualify this as a real blog post.

Happy Autumn!! :D
